A barge cruise is a 6 night/7 day intimate, in depth exploration in a particular region of France. Your cruise route is only 50 miles! So you an float from village to village... past fishermen... wildlife... green fields with mountains in the distance... wave to families out for a walk on the towpath! This is the serene, beautiful and largely unknown France you can experience only from the deck of a canal barge!
Our hotel barges have private and full-time chefs on board...It's freshly baked croissants from the village bakery for breakfast. . . a sumptuous lunch buffet served on deck . . . a formal (but informal dress, please) four course dinner. It is definitely "Diet Before Departure!" Then there are the 21 cheeses you'll sample and compare and the wines at lunch and dinner. Quiche, pâté, fruit tortes, chocolate mousse and All Things French will make your barge cruise a gastronomic delight!
Your guide will personally introduce you to chateaux, local markets, vineyards, walled towns, and basilicas. Shop for local crafts, wine, art, cuisine (think mustard, honey and more) and that odd souvenir that takes your fancy. On a barge cruise you'll experience the off - the - beaten - path in France, but guided and cosseted every step of the way!
Bicycle along the towpaths which line your canal, or bike into town and have a cafe in the town square. There's also walking, ballooning and touring. So, you can be as active as you wish to be. On the other hand, you're in France! You might also choose to relax on deck; sip champagne and watch the scenery slip slowly by.
