Golf Cruise on Shannon Princess

Ireland! A perfect barge cruiseGolf cruises in Ireland on Barge Shannon Princess owners destination on the Shannon Waterway, meandering past scenery, villages, and wildlife. But, Ireland is also a perfect golf destination: Home to 400 links and parkland courses, from internationally renowned courses to welcoming local clubs. Many Irish and Northern Irish players are at the top of their professional game right now, bringing a huge focus on Irish golf. The time has never been better for a golf cruise aboard Shannon Princess!

The barge Shannon Princess is owned and operated by the top Irish team of Captain Ruairi Gibbons and Chef Olivia Power, pictured at right. They have created a modern and comfortable vessel, yet one with many personal touches: Original oil and water color paintings and handmade pottery table settings are created by locals artisans. The salon and cabins are all on one level, while above is a shaded deck, perfectly placed for viewing the hills, villages, wildlife and scenery which floats by. Olivia grew up in a home rich with food and hospitality – she has carried this heritage onto Shannon Princess where she aims to make every meal into a festive occasion. She trained at the Ballymaloe Cookery School (which is credited with saving and updating traditional Irish cuisine) and is an avid forager for local fruits, heirloom vegetables and herbs of all kinds. Ruairi grew up in a coastal village near to Dublin, where he was an enthusiastic club sailor and explorer of the inland waterways. His first foray into passenger barging was with a converted traditional Irish Guinness barge. Ruairi appreciates life on the river and enthusiastically shares local history and folklore with his guests. He also seems to know every pub along the route!

Ruairi and Olivia are the perfect hosts for a week which seamlessly combines the best of Irish cruising and cuisine with four rounds of golf. The courses all within an hour and fifteen minutes of the route. The itinerary includes three of Europe’s top courses. The K Club was home to the 2006 Ryder Cup, while the Adare Manor Golf course is part of the 5-star (and glamorous) Adare Manor Hotel. Also included is the world famous Lahinch Golf Course, located on the shores of the wild Atlantic Ocean. Finally, for a complete change of pace, moor right at the Glasson Golf course and walk right to the clubhouse - very local in feel, but top golf can be enjoyed here.

Four rounds of golf AND your cruise aboard the Shannon Princess – This is an incredible experience. We hope to welcome you to both the waterways and the golf courses of Ireland!

Shannon Princess Guest Book

"Wow! The cruise aboard the Shannon Princess was amazing. Well beyond what we expected. The barge was so perfect. The owners of the barge treated us like celebrities! Olivia is a master Chef, and the cuisine was that of a gourmet dining tour. Please recommend to anyone looking for lovely accommodations, great scenery, terrific food, and beautiful, charming cities. I hope to take my boys someday soon on this experience. Thanks again. Looking forward to the next adventure."

Rochelle S. and Jeffrey S., cruised July, 2016

"There are no words to express our gratitude on the way we were treated on our cruise with Captain Ruairi, Chef Olivia, and the rest of the Shannon Princess crew. It was over the top, and we are already highly recommending this trip to everyone we see. Thanks again."

Michael and Bobbie B., cruised July, 2016

"This cruise on the Shannon Princess was truly enjoyable. The crew was FABULOUS! Everyone was so friendly couldn't do enough for us. Cuisine was perfect! Olivia is a fantastic Chef. Each meal was better than the next! We really enjoyed the excursions, and enjoyed meeting the other guests, who were lovely. We didn't want to leave! The pre-trip information was perfect, and we followed all the suggestions given. We have already recommended to several people that they contact you for amazing trips. Each cruise we have booked with you has been incredible!"

- Sue Meltzer, cruised June, 2016 (repeat Barge Lady guest)

"Everything about the cruise aboard the Shannon Princess was top-notch. We had a wonderful time. The efforts of Captain Ruairi and Chef Olivia made for a relaxed and fun atmosphere. Olivia's cuisine was excellent, the cabins were very comfortable, and everything ran like clockwork. Our fellow travelers, who we didn't know in advance, formed a very compatible group. There were two retired four-star generals and their wives, a retired cruise director and his wife, and a hotel owner from Pennsylvania and his wife. Rather than go on at length, suffice it to say that you could feel very confident in recommending this to anyone expressing an interest in visiting Ireland. Thanks for your help in setting this up. We couldn't have done it without you."

 - Peter Karsten, cruised May, 2016

"Olivia was a fabulous Chef, and Captain Ruairi was very personable and a good Tour Guide. Can’t say enough about the food…copious amounts, all wonderful and served beautifully and with great variety. Our favorite excursion was at the monastery. The guide there was terrific, a grand historian with a passion for his work. We all decided we wouldn’t mind spending an evening in a pub with him! Cabins were spacious, with absolutely everything we needed plus more. Baths and amenities were excellent as well. The Barge Lady did a great job as usual! Pre-trip info was complete. There was nothing confusing, and everything went very smoothly."

- Jeanne Duffy, cruised July, 2015 (repeat Barge Lady guest)

"We enjoyed everything! The barge itself was wonderful -- spacious and arranged nicely. The food was excellent and the crew was wonderful. Captain Ruari is a Renaissance man…a boat captain, tour director, chauffeur, and historian. Barge Lady documents and information were very helpful. Thanks to the Barge Ladies for arranging the cruise."

- Martha and Tom Wooldrige, cruised June, 2015 (repeat Barge Lady guests)
