Rating: Deluxe, A/C, Families
The owner of Marjorie II has announced they will be cruising
on a Holland-Belgium route from May 23 to October 23, 2010. Please call (800) 880-0071 for more information.
MARJORIE II is owned by Ronny and Damienne Muyshandt, a hardworking Belgian couple - both with extensive background on the waterways of Europe. Damienne supervised the interior decoration of this sleek, modern and elegant vessel. The six equal cabins boast CNN on the television and each has a bathroom with a double sink. Relax in the on-deck jacuzzi as you cruise on a lengthy and beautiful itinerary featuring the top sights of two regions, Burgundy and Upper Loire. The itinerary cruises between the Impressionist village of Moret-sur-Loing (home of painter Alfred Sisley) and the town of Vermenton, close to the Chablis vineyards and many sights of Burgundy.
Walk, bicycle and relax on this cruise, deep in the French countryside - and let this seasoned operation take care of your every wish.

Samois-sur-Seine to Vermenton
Begin to Cruise on the idyllic French canals

We meet in Paris at 2:00pm at the Hotel Reniassance Le Parc Trocadero and transfer you to the 'Marjorie II' moored in the village of Samois-sur-Seine. We'll immediately begin to cruise. Walk the towpath, explore on you bicycle or just relax on deck - the choice is always yours! Our destination is the picturesque village of Moret-sur-Loing, pictured at right, a village where the Impressionniste artist Alfred Sisley lived, worked and immortalized in his paintings. Tonight enjoy the first of many gourmet dinners on board.
Monday: Moret-sur-Loing to Sens
Magnificent chateau and gardens!
Our first excursion brings us to the Chateau Vaux-le-Vicomte and its fabulous gardens by Le Notre (of Versailles fame). Some 20,000 workmen were employed in the construction of this magnificent 17th -century masterpiece, designed by Le Vau and decorated by Le Brun. In the afternoon we cruise on the Seine to Sens.
Tuesday: Sens to Joigny
France's first Gothic Cathedral
Sens is dominated by the Cathedral of St. Etienne which was the first Cathedral built in the Gothic style (circa 1140). Thomas a Becket spent time here in exile from England and the Cathedral is justly famous for its stained glass windows. It's also a nice town for shopping. An afternoon cruise brings us to the picturesque town of Joigny built on the slope of the Cote St. Jacques on the verge of the Orthe forest.
Wednesday: Joigny to Auxerre
Winetasting in Chablis
This morning is our wine tasting in Chablis, home of the famous dry white wines of Petite Chablis, Chablis, Premier Cru and Grand Cru. We visit several excellent wine houses. A short cruise brings us to Auxerre.
Thursday: Auxerre to Vincelles
Historic Town - sightsee, stroll and shop
This morning we visit Auxerre, historical capital of Lower Burgundy and one of the loveliest towns in France. Renaissance houses surround the Galliard clock tower, a city landmark since 1483 and the abbey church and cloisters of St. Germaine are just a short walk away. In the afternoon we cruise to Vincelles on the Nivernais canal.
Friday: Vincelles to Vermenton
Basilica of Vezelay
Today we do a long excursion to visit the village of Vezelay with her Roman Basilica of St. Mary Magdalene, one of the finest examples of Romanesque architecture in Europe, situated in the heart of the Morvan national park. This village has barely changed since Richard the Lion Heart set off for the third crusade in the 12th Century. Our last cruise brings us to Vermenton. Tonight we celebrate with a special farewell dinner.
Saturday: Back to Paris
A Sad Farewell
After breakfast, you'll return back to the Hotel Renaissance le Parc Trocadero. Estimated arrival time into Paris is noon. We hope to see you again on Marjorie II!

Guest Book
"The entire trip was a pleasure, the service was excellent, the food interesting, varied and delicious, the wines and beers adequately described and matched with the food. After Bruges, the stops were well planned to be timely and worthwhile - especially the detailed description and tour of the flower auction."
-Pearl Rich, 2010
"We had a wonderful week exploring Northern Burgundy on the Marjorie II. A region of such contrasts, from the imposing Chateau Vaux-le-Vicomte, the historic towns of Sens, Joigny and Auxerre, the vines and wine tasting in Chablis, the little sleepy villages where time stood still and always the beautiful countryside as we glided along. Ronny Muyshandt's crew worked hard to ensure that everything was perfect including the high standard of the housekeeping throughout the barge, the interesting excursions and the first class food and drink. Another triumph, Ellen!"
-Margaret Harding and Paul Hewett, 2009
"Everyone's expectations were exceeded. The food was excellent. Stin, the chef, really outdid himself. Louise, the van driver and tour guide, really knows her history and took us on wonderful excursions."
-David and Lynda Zachar, 2008
"Our barge trip was the perfect blend of adventure and comfort, luxury and access to outdoors, excursions and relaxation. The crew of Marjorie II was fabulous and the French countryside always a gem."
-Joel and Lynn Altschul, 2008
"For a family of 23 people, our double charter proved to be an exceptional trip. There were activities for guests age 14 to 83 to enjoy! The Captains and crew did so much to make the cruise memorable. The 4th of July celebration was spectacular! Thanks so much!"
-Doug and Kitty Quarles, Jr.
