From the Canals to the Cotswolds!
We first met Joe Campbell and Angharad Jones as beloved crew members on one of France’s top luxury barges; he was a Captain, and she was a Hostess. However, this seasoned and delightful couple had a dream to take the best of barging – the informal hospitality, gourmet cuisine, and cultural immersion – to land, and most specifically, to the Costwolds region in England. The Barge Ladies are delighted to the introduce the “Quintessential Cotswolds” experience!
Joe and Ang invite you to their Cotswolds “house party” in a beautiful 16th century manor house, accommodating eight guests in four en-suite bedrooms, spacious public areas, and rambling grounds complete with an outdoor swimming pool. Relax into a 5-star land-based holiday with the finest Continental dining, cultural access, and leisure activities planned especially for your private party. Just as in barging, everything is included in the fare, including private chauffeured transfers to and from London.
While Quintessential Cotswolds guests will feel right at home with the manor’s cozy and high-end ambiance, it is the region’s extraordinary scope of history and heritage that comes alive thanks to a series of curated excursions, events, and activities, all of them chauffeured and guided. While exploring the Cotswolds, guests will discover adorable towns and lively villages; take in the gorgeous city of Bath with the famed Roman Baths; attend a polo match with VIP seating; and sample small batch beers at a local boutique brewery. Customized itineraries for specialized experiences, such as Cotswolds Culinary, Family Fun, and Girlfriends Getaway are also on offer by request.
Meanwhile, back at the manor house, there is much to do, see, and enjoy with friends both old and new! Your dedicated Chef welcomes you into the state-of-the-art kitchen for cooking demonstrations and informal lessons as multi-course gourmet meals are freshly prepared. Lounge by the pool and sip a gin-and-tonic made with locally-crafted spirits. Stroll around the gorgeous grounds with your camera, or talk a walk into town for a wee dram at the charming pub. Before you leave, participate in a croquet match: it’s guests vs staff!
We recommend a week in the Cotswolds with Joe and Ang as a compliment to your European barge cruise, as transfers to the pickup point in London are easily arranged. For those interested in a stand-alone holiday, a stay at the manor is the perfect pastoral getaway in conjunction with a few days in London.
