In the afternoon, you will be met by a crew member of Le Papillon at the designated meeting point. From here, relax as you are chauffeured to the barge moored in Chateau-Thierry. A traditional champagne welcome and introduction to the crew awaits you, before your first of many gourmet dinners onboard.

After a short morning cruise, your Tour Guide escorts you to Belleau Wood, scene of the second battle of the Marne in 1918, which ended the last German offensive of WWI. Then it’s back to Le Papillon and an afternoon cruise to Trelou-sur-Marne. Upon mooring, take a short walk to the family-owned (four generations!) Champagne Meteyer Pere et Fils. Meet the Champagne producers and stay for a special private tasting. Then cruise to Dormans where you can take a stroll in this charming village before cocktails and dinner.

Begin the day with a morning cruise through glorious Champagne countryside. Relax on deck, and admire the scenery slipping by. This afternoon, your Tour Guide presents Epernay, center of the area’s Champagne trade. Enjoy a private tasting in the beautifully renovated cellars of Champagne Boizel, owned by the same family since 1834. Return for dinner ashore at the Michelin-rated Le Bellevue Restaurant and Bar. Take aperitifs on the terrace with magnificent views over the vineyards, followed by dinner in their unique contemporary venue.

This morning your Tour Guide introduces Hautvillers, where Dom Perignon first invented the famous drink. Family-owned champagne houses and artisanal shops pepper the streets. Return to cruise on Le Papillon and then it's off to sample chocolate champagne corks and other sweet delights at La Chocolaterie Thibaut. Afterward enjoy a tasting at Champagne Lenique, owned by the same family since 1768, and supplier to French barges for many years. Back on board, Chef is putting the finishing touches on tonight’s gourmet dinner.

A highlight of the week is this morning's visit to Reims Cathedral, famed for its magnificent stained glass windows, its defining Gothic architecture and for hosting thirty-three sovereign coronations in just over 1000 years! Then enjoy a private cellar tour and tasting at Veuve Cliquot, founded in 1772 by Madame Cliquot, who is considered the “mother of champagne.” There’s time to shop in the Place Drouet d’Erlon before returning to Le Papillon for lunch and an afternoon cruise. Relive the day’s adventure over cocktails and dinner on board.

Delight in passing scenery on this morning’s cruise. Then your Tour Guide chauffeurs you to Bouzy, home of famed Grand Cru Pinot Noir grapes for one last tasting at Champagne Herbert Beaufort. The Beaufort family can trace it’s winemaking history to the 16th century. Today this house produces both champagnes and a red wine called Bouzy Rouge. Return to Le Papillon, where Chef is putting finishing touches on tonight’s Farewell Feast, ending your cruise in style. Linger in the memories of good times, good friends, and lots of champagne!
