A fresh destination for Barge Lady travelers awaits… new to the Barge Lady fleet, bienvenuti a bordo Italy’s La Bella Vita!
A country seemingly designed for hotel barging, the variety of charming waterways between Venice and Mantua alone promises a unique and magical cruising experience, with an itinerary that includes excursions offering real insight into the many Italian cultures — Roman, Etruscan, Istrian, Byzantine, and of course Renaissance. Art, culture, and beauty are everywhere on La Bella Vita’s route!
This past October, Barge Lady Creative Director Kelly Weiss visited La Bella Vita and enjoyed an exhilarating day experiencing some of the incredible itinerary highlights this cruise offers accompanied by Captain Rudy and Cruise Director/Guide Klaudia. After a grand tour of this lovely, spacious vessel by Captain Rudy, pictured above on board with Kelly, they were off to enjoy an adventuresome day in Italy.
♦ The ever animated Klaudia led an illuminating tour through the colorful coastal fishing town of Chioggia, complete with a visit to the lively local morning fish market, a source for some of the delicious seafood guests indulge in on board. Klaudia, Kelly and Captain Rudy are pictured above on a bridge in Chioggia.
♦ Irish born owner Elaine Avanzo Westropp Bennett and her daughter Maria Adelaide provided a warm welcome and insightful tour of 17th century private stately home of Villa Ca’ Zen. La Bella Vita guests enjoy an unforgettable dinner and evening ashore at this exquisite property, a stomping ground of Lord Byron back in the day, during their cruise week.
♦ Her last (but certainly not least) stop was the Bagnoli estate where resident guide Tania led a spirited tour through the beautiful Renaissance gardens and wine cellars of the 17th century Villa Widmann-Borletti. Of course her visit would not be complete without indulging in a private wine tasting!
About her visit, Kelly says: “After a day spent sampling the sightseeing highlights La Bella Vita offers, inspecting the handsome vessel and befriending her charming crew, it is clear to see why guests love it!”
This Deluxe-rated vessel accommodates its 20 passengers with amenities focused solely on the luxurious Italian experience, which is driven by the history and heritage of the country’s preserved waterways, relaxed lifestyles, and natural splendors. The expansive sun deck and louvered doors make for the best viewing when cruising along the scenic waterways, while dining and drinking take center stage as guests enjoy menus by an on-board gourmet chef and indulge in the region’s many wines.
Other Highlights include: Cruising right through Venice into the Lagoon, touring palaces from the Renaissance with gorgeous frescoes and gardens. Towns and cities that were home to writers, musicians, and artists. With an itinerary that cruises through the Venetian Lagoon and River Po, La Bella Vita offers a dream vacation perfect for guests who have already barged in France, and groups of all kinds such as ladies, families, and couples. Float through the heart of Italy, only on La Bella Vita!
