Travel from Dijon to St. Leger-sur-Dheune on the Canal de Bourgogne, River Saone and Canal du Centre
In the afternoon, you will be met by a crew member of the Fleur de Lys at the designated meeting point. From here, relax as you are chauffeured to the barge, moored in the port of Dijon. A traditional champagne welcome and introduction to the crew awaits you, before your first gourmet dinner aboard.
This morning, cruise gently out of Dijon and onto the Canal de Bourgogne. Relax on deck or explore the countryside by bicycle. Upon mooring, your Tour Guide drives among scenic vineyards to Clos de Vougeot, where Cistercian monks made wine in the 12th century. This historic château now houses the Chevaliers du Tastevin wine society and an ancient cellar and wine presses. Enjoy a private wine tasting at a renowned Gevrey Chambertin producer before returning to the barge. Cocktails and canapes await, followed by a gourmet dinner.
Today your Tour Guide presents a walking tour of Dijon. Visit the Ducal Palace, seat of the great Medieval dukes of Burgundy and then explore the covered food market and help select ingredients that Chef will incorporate into your lunch for an authentic “farm to table” experience. Mingle with the locals while you shop, sip, and stroll your way through this lively town. Back on board, unwind on deck for this afternoon’s cruise that takes you along the River Saone. Cocktails and dinner complete this delightful day.
After a morning cruise, Fleur de Lys enters the Canal du Centre via the Crissey lock. Experience the first stretch of this beautiful, winding canal by walking the towpath or bicycling into passing villages. Upon mooring, your Tour Guide escorts you to Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy, for a private tasting at the prestigious Joseph Drouhin cellars and a tour of the immaculately preserved 14th century Hospice de Beaune. There’s time to stroll the cobblestoned streets and shop before returning for cocktails and canapes followed by dinner.
Enjoy a leisurely morning cruise and take advantage of the unhurried pace to alight at a lock and walk or cycle on the towpath. Or, relax on deck and admire the rustic scenery: the choice is always yours! Dine with the locals for lunch at a nearby auberge followed by a private tour and tasting at the cellars of the magnificent Château de Pommard. Located on the famed Route des Grands Cru, wine has been produced here since 1726. Return to the barge and re-live the day’s sights over cocktails on deck followed by another epicurean dinner.
Begin the day with a cruise through vineyards towards the final mooring. This afternoon, your Tour Guide accompanies you to Château de Rully for an insider’s introduction to Burgundy's history and current lifestyle. You will meet the Count, who presents his magnificent Medieval castle and shares the storied history of his ancestors. Then visit a distinguished local vineyard and sample the vinous delights of the Côte de Beaune. Back on the barge, Chef is preparing a gala Farewell dinner, which ends your luxurious cruise in style.
Checking out no later than 9:00am, you will be chauffeured to the designated drop-off point.
