Northern Burgundy Barge Cruises
Barge cruising in Burgundy! Scenic floating, wine-tasting, bicycling, sightseeing and the beauty of France’s top barge cruising region.
Let’s take a look:
Northern Burgundy is located a two to three hour drive south of Paris. All of our barges provide chauffeured Paris pickup and return, so these are among the easiest barge routes to reach. Tres simple to combine with a few days in Paris, and an ideal trip for travelers planning a trip of eight to nine days.
The Canal du Nivernais, the Canal de Bourgogne, and the River Yonne.
Northern Burgundy is great for guests who like to sample a wide variety of experiences and excursions. The canals are meltingly beautiful, lined with colorful villages and weeping willow trees at some spots, sailing through dramatic cliffs in others. Bicycling and walking opportunities are numerous. Visits include winetasting in ancient caves, chateaux, basilicas, and markets – all within easy distance from the barge.
Winetasting in Chablis and driving through Grand Cru vineyards high above the town. The Chateau of Ancy-le-Franc, France’s only Italian Renaissance chateau, especially gorgeous frescos. The Grottes d’Arcy, with incredible 30,000 year old cave paintings. Walk up the Vezelay’s winding street to the Basilca, perched high above this adorable village. Go to market with the locals in Noyers-sur-Serein, and then stop by the local potter for a demonstration.
There is a barge cruise for almost everyone in Northern Burgundy! We love this region and have visited it many times. Welcome aboard for your barge cruise in Burgundy!
