Inspired by the luxury, opulence, and quality of 1920’s classic motor yachts, Roi Soleil plies the Canal du Midi in dapper and distinguished style.
Stately design and patrician décor in the public areas epitomizes elegance with rich leather seating and plush textiles, subtly accented by pristine mahogany and brass trim. Three cabins abound with many deluxe details, such as designer French fabrics and elegant handmade tiled bathrooms. Numerous windows and skylights in the spacious salon offer incredible panoramic views of the canal, encouraging guests to linger while enjoying a glass of wine or cup of tea.
Built with both an aft and bow deck, the Roi Soleil boasts ample outdoor space for hours of sophisticated socializing. With a hot tub and an alfresco dining nook, the front deck serves as the social center of the barge; guests are of course invited to join the Captain in his lovely wheelhouse or relax on the aft terrace in one of the inviting sunloungers.
A demonstration kitchen provides another popular spot. Gourmands and gastronomes are welcomed into the world of gourmet French cooking by tasting a spoonful of garlicky rouille destined for freshly grilled fish or toasting with a glass of crisp Picpoul de Pinet as Chef puts the final touches on that evening’s dinner. Of course, meals are crafted with treasures from the region’s rustic bounty; freshly caught seafood, sun-ripened tomatoes, and fragrant bundles of wild herbs are often the star of the show.
Unique to the Roi Soleil’s experience is the daily sightseeing program; once onboard, guests collaborate with their Tour Guide to “choose their own adventure” from a curated list of exciting activities and local events. Vineyard visits, touring Roman ruins, and exploring charming villages are just a few of the options offered. Of course, on such a glamorous vessel, a top-notch crew looks after guests with approachability, professionalism, and warmth. When it comes to the “royal standard” of Canal du Midi cruising, it’s good to be the King…on the Roi Soleil!
